Freshwater Aquariums
Cold water and tropical setups — designed and maintained to thrive
Simple, stunning cold water setups
A cold water aquarium holds freshwater organisms that thrive without an added heat source — a popular entry point for newcomers to the hobby.
When choosing an aquarium it's always best to know what type of fish you want to keep, as this determines the size. Goldfish grow very large and don't thrive in cramped conditions.
Popular cold water varieties: Common, Comet, Shubunkin, Fantail, Black Moors and many more.

Vibrant tropical environments
A tropical aquarium holds freshwater organisms thriving in warmer water at 75–80°F (24–27°C), maintained with an aquarium heater. Common starter setups are peaceful community tanks with Tetras, Gouramis, Platys, Swordtails and less aggressive Barbs.
Many types of tropical setups exist depending on pH range and species. Amazon fish thrive at pH 6–7; fish from African lakes prefer pH 7–8. The right décor and filtration replicate each natural environment.
Popular biotopes: Rio Negro / Brazil, Lake Malawi / Africa, and general South American communities.
